David and Goliath

Key Verse

1 Samuel 17:1-58 KJV

The story of David and Goliath is a classic account of faith and courage where an underdog Israeli shepherd boy defeats a giant Philistine warrior against impossible odds. Goliath, taunts the entire Israelite army for forty days, challenging them to a single combat.

David, a young shepherd boy, is outraged by Goliath's defiance of God and steps forward to volunteer for the fight. David hurls a stone that strikes Goliath squarely in the forehead, knocking him unconscious to the ground and securing a miraculous, historic victory for Israel.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for bringing us together today to learn from your Word. As we study the story of David and Goliath, remind us that no challenge is too big when you are on our side. Give us the faith and courage of young David to face the "giants" in our own lives, whether they are fears, worries, or difficult situations.

Help us remember that our strength doesn't come from armor or weapons, but from trusting in your name. Open our hearts to what you want to teach us today.

Amen.
